After the state of Nevada legalized nonmedical adult possession and use of cannabis last year, High Times magazine moved its internationally acclaimed Cannabis Cup marijuana competition onto tribal lands near Las Vegas.
The U.S. Attorney in Las Vegas warned the tribe February 16 that the “the transport, possession, use and distribution of marijuana is illegal under federal law” and the festival would violate that provision, but a scaled back version of the event was allowed to proceed.
